Youth Section 1 of 11

1. Introduction - Junior Cricket at Verwood CC

Verwood CC junior section provides coaching for young cricketers of all abilities from the ages of 4 to 21. We provide a safe and supportive environment for all our juniors to learn and develop their cricketing skills. Our main aim is for our junior players to have fun playing cricket and to play to the best of their ability, but we also wish to nurture an understanding and a love for the game of cricket where our junior players play cricket fairly and with respect for their teammates, the opposition, and officials.

Junior Training

Junior Training sessions are organised and supervised by coaches who are DBS checked and ECB qualified, several our coaches have Coach Support Worker and Level 1 or Level 2 qualifications.

Junior Matches
Verwood CC compete in the South & East Dorset League and Cup competitions. The District Committee organise fixtures for all age groups from U8s to U15s. All children, within these age groups, will be eligible to play in our age group squads/teams and we aim to give as many Juniors as possible the experience of playing cricket. We do currently run a dedicated girls side at U9s & U11s, all other sides can be played by girls and boys.

Great Volunteers
All our coaches and Team managers are volunteers who are usually parents of junior cricketers or senior players. We are always keen to involve any parents who are interested in helping and improving our junior section. An advanced level of cricketing knowledge is not required to make a difference and there are many supporting roles available, from assisting coaches at training sessions to helping at matches. We regularly look to secure places on training courses run by Dorset Cricket Board for those volunteers committed to helping Verwood CC and who wish to learn more about coaching, umpiring, or scoring.
