Youth

Our youth program

Following our successful coaching sessions at Emmanuel Middle School last summer we have entered a under 11’s team in the East Dorset League for the 2012 season.

Organised by our qualified coaches and supported by our fully CRB checked volunteers, training sessions will run every Tuesday evening 7-8pm throughout March and April at Verwood Leisure centre, and then at Potterne Park from May onwards.  First Session is Tuesday 13th March 7-8.00pm & the cost is £3.00 per child per session.

Outdoor league matches are played on Saturday Mornings throughout the summer at Potterne Park.

We are currently looking for players for this new team, if your child is interested please contact Chris on 07979 158148 or email youth@verwoodcricketclub.co.uk

Membership forms

If you are looking to join the Club (or even if you only wish to come along to a practice or two to see if you enjoy it) please complete the junior membership form which can be found below and send it to  Verwood Cricket Club, Youth Secretary, 10 Lake road, Verwood. BH31 6BU or email to youth.secretary@verwoodcricketclub.co.uk .  The membership form contains important contact and medical information which is why we must insist on it being completed.

A Junior membership form can be downloaded here

Membership fees

We are happy for new players to come along to 2 or 3 practices to see if they enjoy cricket and want to join the Club.  However if you want to come along to more than 2 or 3 sessions we will expect you to become a paying member.

Junior membership to Verwood Cricket Club is £20 per year and includes a club shirt when first joining.

Training sessions are £3 as are match fees for junior matches.

Kit

Players will be expected to play matches in a white shirt and white trousers.  Club shirts are available for purchase from Chris Jolliffe (Club Treasurer).  The majority of junior matches are played on artificial wickets so it is generally best to wear trainers although there may be occasions when it is possible to use spikes.  We recommend that all players have their own box.  Please make sure that your child is appropriately attired to keep the box in place – loose fitting boxer shorts are therefore not appropriate.

Please note that junior players will be required to wear helmets when batting.  The Club is able to provide kit (eg, bats, pads, gloves, helmets etc) to any player who does not have their own kit.
