We are all incredibly excited that the season starts next week with training commencing from 29th March, subject to getting the all clear from the Government to proceed. The initial information that has been shared with the clubs through the ECB is that the format is likely to be very similar to last year in that we shall be having regular sanitisation breaks, no match teas and no changing room facilities.

Friendlies starting - 3rd April

Scott is busy rolling the pitch at Potterne with a new record being set for the first roll happening on the 1st March, whilst the not so new roller (Alfred) has been acquired from Somerset and is being used at Alderholt. We are immensely thankful to Nigel Alcazar who collected the roller for the club. The pictures kindly shared today by the President certainly looks like the spring preparation at Alderholt is coming on really well. Eric Pearson has done a wonderful job in putting together a full and varied friendly fixture schedule which I know will provide an opportunity for everyone to get some good preparation before the start of the league season. We hope the friendly fixtures shall get underway on Saturday 3rd April.

Setup Day - 10am 10th April

As you know all of this hard work doesn’t happen by accident and we do need your help to get the final preparations in place. At 10am on the 10th April we need your help to help with the setup day at both grounds which involves jobs such as a general tidy up, repairs to containers, sorting of training kit, repainting of the score box, sight screen maintenance, tip runs and of course tea and coffee making. We shall send out an invitation for this and remind all the club captains to help round up the troops. We shall of course be adhering to government guidelines so we may have to split days or locations, but we shall update you all in due course.

Membership and Annual Subs

The next item we wish to raise is please ensure that you have downloaded the Pitchero App to your phone. From there you will be able to provide all of your membership details and if you already have the app please check to make sure that these details are up to date. This is essential to provide contact details and medical comments (if appropriate) in case an incident were to occur. Over the course of the next 2 weeks and prior to being eligible for selection we shall be taking your annual subs. It is essential that these are in place to provide insurance ahead of us taking to the field. If you no longer wish to be a member or have problems with payment, please contact info@verwoodcricketclub.co.uk and we shall work with you to resolve this. We shall be taking payment in the first week of April to ensure that everyone has sufficient notice and has been paid.
